Branches and brush bundled with string

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal’s Public Works Department will be collecting brush and leaves in residential areas of Spencerville, Cardinal, Johnstown and New Wexford where conditional burning is not permitted. Throughout May, residents can take advantage of scheduled curbside pickups or drop off their brush and leaves at the Scott Road Transfer Station free of charge for the month.


Scott Road Transfer Station Drop-Off

The Scott Road Transfer Station will accept brush and leaves at no charge throughout May. In addition, a special drop-off day has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No other items will be accepted on this date.


Curbside Collection Schedule

  • Cardinal: Tuesday, May 6 & May 20, 2025
  • Spencerville, Johnstown & New Wexford: Thursday, May 8 & May 22, 2025

All brush and leaf waste must be placed at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Please ensure that bags remain dry and are set out no earlier than 48 hours before pickup. This collection service is available in built-up areas where conditional burning is not permitted.


Collection Guidelines

  • Branches must be no longer than 1.2 meters (4 feet)
  • No root bases from trees or shrubs will be accepted
  • Tree limbs and trunks cannot exceed 75 mm (3 inches) in diameter
  • Bundled brush must be secured and no larger than 18 kg (40 lbs) or 450 mm (18 inches) in diameter, with a limit of 12 bundles
  • Leaves must be packaged in clear plastic or paper composting bags (maximum 12 bags)
  • No construction debris, garbage, or other materials will be collected
