The Edwardsburgh Cardinal Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated team of 46 men and women committed to protecting the community. Serving over 300 km², the department operates from fire stations in Spencerville and Cardinal.

Through an automatic aid agreement, the Prescott Fire Department provides initial emergency response in Johnstown, ensuring timely assistance for township residents. The township also has automatic aid agreements with Augusta, South Dundas, and North Grenville, enhancing emergency response in border areas. Additionally, the department participates in the Ontario Mutual Aid Response Plan to support surrounding communities when needed.

The Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department provides a range of services which include: fire suppression, fire prevention and public education, search and rescue, auto extrication and emergency medical response. Contact Fire Chief Brian Moore for information and inquiries.

Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation

Edwardsburgh Cardinal is accredited for water tanker shuttle by Fire Protection Survey Services.  As such, rural residents may be eligible for lower fire insurance rates if they live within 8 kilometers of a fire station. Insurance companies may request a copy of our Certificate of Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation Certificate detailing the accreditation.
