EC Connects: A New Community Resource Platform for Edwardsburgh Cardinal

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal is excited to announce the official launch of EC Connects, a comprehensive community resource platform designed to provide residents with quick and easy access to local services and support. From recreation and arts programs to mental health resources, senior services, cultural and historical initiatives, and housing assistance, EC Connects is a one-stop hub for finding and connecting with valuable community programs.
Edwardsburgh Cardinal Council recognizes that finding and navigating available programs can be challenging. The Township’s Strategic Plan aims to connect residents with available resources as part of building a healthy and liveable community. EC Connects was created in response to this objective, ensuring that residents have an easy way to find vital community resources.
“The EC Connects Community Resource Platform is a testament to the strength and unity of our community. By providing residents with easy access to local services and support, we are fostering a network of care and collaboration,” commented Mayor Tory Deschamps. “This platform empowers individuals and families to find the resources they need while also creating opportunities for everyone to engage and contribute to our shared growth. Together, we can ensure Edwardsburgh Cardinal continues to thrive as a compassionate and connected community.”
The development of EC Connects was a collaborative effort between the Township and Canadian company, HelpSeeker Technologies. HelpSeeker is focused on data-driven solutions to address social challenges. Their Navigi search engine played a key role in building the directory, using AI to identify hundreds of local resources. However, many of the organizations that serve our community rely on volunteers—some of the busiest people we know—which means their online information isn't always up to date. Township staff worked closely with the community and HelpSeeker over the past year to refine the listings, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. As Navigi continues to evolve, its AI-driven insights are helping enhance the directory, making EC Connects an even more valuable tool for residents. The Township invites organizations and residents to suggest edits to listings if they find any errors, using a built-in tool to share feedback easily.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Edwardsburgh Cardinal to make it easier for residents to find the programs and services they need. By joining forces, we’re simplifying access to everything from housing support to recreation opportunities.” said Travis Turner, Co-Founder of HelpSeeker. This partnership showcases how the Navigi platform can strengthen community connections by ensuring information is readily accessible and easy to navigate."

How to use EC Connects
Residents can visit www/twpec.ca/ecconnects to browse services by category or use the search function to find tailored resources. The platform is free, mobile-friendly, and updated regularly to reflect new and existing community programs.
Bonnie Pidgeon, Executive Director of South Grenville Food Bank shared her enthusiasm for the initiative: "EC Connects is an invaluable tool for organizations like ours. Having a centralized, easy-to-use platform where residents can quickly find food assistance and other essential services means more people can access the support they need when they need it most. It also helps us connect with other community partners, ensuring we work together to address food security and other challenges in South Grenville. This platform strengthens our outreach and helps us better serve those who rely on us."
In addition to social services, EC Connects highlights historical and cultural sites, supporting local heritage initiatives.
“I am so happy TWPEC has included heritage sites in EC Connects—it will be a valuable tool for promoting local history and culture,” said Tim East, Secretary of the Spencerville Mill Foundation. “By featuring locations like the Spencerville Mill & Museum, the platform makes it easier for residents and visitors to learn about our shared legacy, discover upcoming events, and engage with exhibits. This increased visibility helps us connect with a broader audience and ensures our community’s history remains accessible and appreciated. With more people coming to our region—whether as tourists or new residents—this program not only highlights our heritage but also helps them find essential services and recreational opportunities, making it an invaluable resource for both locals and visitors alike.”
Get involved & what’s next for EC Connects
The Township encourages residents, service providers, and community groups to explore EC Connects and help shape its continued growth. Organizations can submit their services for listing, and residents are invited to suggest updates to keep the platform accurate and relevant.
The Township is already exploring new ways to expand EC Connects. One of the most exciting possibilities is using the platform to connect volunteers with organizations that need support. Many local groups rely on volunteers to sustain their programs, but finding the right fit can be a challenge. EC Connects could become a powerful tool for strengthening community engagement and helping residents give back in meaningful ways.
