The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal is proud to proclaim October 6-12, 2024, as Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme, “Smoke alarms: make them work for you!” emphasizes the importance of ensuring that smoke alarms are properly installed and maintained in every home.

Fire is a serious threat, both locally and nationally, and homes remain the most common location for fires to occur. The Township urges residents to take these simple steps to protect their households:

  • Identify potential fire hazards in your home and remove them.
  • Ensure smoke alarms are installed in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on all levels of your home.
  • Practice your home fire escape plan and know your designated meeting place.

Being proactive and fire-aware can help reduce the risk of fire-related injuries and fatalities.

The Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department will be leading several public safety activities throughout the week, aimed at educating the community on fire prevention and protection.

Stay safe, Edwardsburgh Cardinal! Let’s make fire prevention a priority.
