The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal will be implementing spring load restrictions on designated municipal roads, effective Monday, March 17, 2025. These restrictions are necessary to protect road infrastructure during the annual spring thaw period when roads are most vulnerable to damage from heavy vehicles.
The reduced load restrictions limit the weight of vehicles to a maximum of five (5) tonnes per axle, as per Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act. These restrictions help preserve the integrity of the road base, prevent costly repairs, and extend the lifespan of municipal roadways.

Restriction Details:
• Start Date: Monday, March 17, 2025
• End Date: TBD (typically late April, depending on road conditions)
• Affected Roads: Designated municipal roads (as indicated by posted signage)
Once road conditions stabilize and the risk of damage subsides, the Township will lift these restrictions. A formal announcement will be made when restrictions are no longer in effect.
