The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal offers marriage licences and civil marriage ceremonies at the Township Hall, or other locations if you plan to get married in the Province of Ontario.

Getting a marriage licence

Marriage licences are available by appointment only, during regular office hours. Please contact us to arrange an appointment and to receive your application form. To receive the licence, you must bring to your appointment:

• Your completed application form
• Two pieces of government-issued ID
• The marriage licence $115 fee

Note: Only one person is required to be present to get a marriage licence. If only one person is present, they will be required to bring two pieces of ID for themselves and two pieces of ID for their partner.

A marriage licence is required to get married in Ontario. The licence is valid for 90 days from the issued date.

Civil marriage ceremonies

We can perform civil marriage ceremonies at the Township Hall, or other locations within the province. Ceremonies can be performed during or after regular business hours. Please contact us if you're interested in arranging for your civil marriage ceremony.

Civil marriage ceremony fees include:

• Ceremony: $250
• Rehearsal fee: $50 (optional)
• Mileage fee: $0.70 per km
